R. S. V. P.
The retirees who participate
in Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (R.S.V.P.) come
from a wide range of former careers. Officer John
Graham, who heads up the program, explains that
the varied backgrounds of volunteers increases
the impact of the San Diego Police Department.
Volunteers provide extra eyes and ears, serve as
ambassadors to the public, and enhance the safety
of our communities.
People who have spent full careers developing professional abilities have a
great deal to offer. Skills such as organizing, administering, and observing
are invaluable to local police departments, and volunteers may sign up for
tasks as diverse as collecting fingerprints at crime scenes to checking in
on elderly people who run the risk of becoming isolated and disconnected with
society.
