National Council of La Raza
Over 20,000 attendees will be at the Convention Center between Saturday, July 12 and Tuesday, July 15.
Both Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama will be present at the convention. McCain is scheduled to speak on Monday, July 14 from noon-2:00p. No word on the day or time Obama will speak.
Be warned, there may be protesters!
Comic Con
Our community will be swarmed with over 100,000 Comic Con attendees. See Superman, Darth Vader, Storm Troopers, Batman and his notorious adversaries, and even fairy princesses.
The convention preview night is Wednesday, July 23 with the convention opening early Thursday morning. Attendees like to line up very early for the opening.
Unfortunately, graffiti and stickers tend to show up around Downtown during this time.
If you see someone in the act of vandalizing our community, take a picture and call the non-emergency San Diego Police Department at (619) 533-2000.

• Northbound easterly lane of Pacific Hwy for construction of Bayside and Breeza
Brief Street Closures & Congestion
• 6-29, noon-4:00p. Streets closed: Columbia between Beech and Cedar AND Columbia between Beech & Cedar for Little Italy Stickball League Competition.
• 7-12, 6:00a-9:00p. Street closure: J Street between 7th & 9th for Stay Classy Tailgate.
• 7-13, 7:00a-noon. From Embarcadero Marina Park North parking lot, north on Kettner Blvd, west on Harbor Dr, north on Pacific Hwy, west on Grape, south on the Embarcadero Esplanade back to Embarcadero Marina Park North for the Naked Juice Run/Walk.
• 7-15, noon-4:00p. Kettner between Date and Cedar AND Kettner between Beech & Cedar for Little Italy Stickball Summer League Competition.
• 7-19, 9:15a-2:30p. University Avenue (Hillcrest) to 6th Avenue and Upas/Balboa Drive for the LGBT Run and Stride with Pride and the LGBT Parade.
• 7-19 & 7-20, noon-10:00p. Heavy pedestrian traffic: Balboa Park (west side of park at Marston Point along Laural Street between 6th Ave. & Balboa Dr for the San Diego LGBT Pride Festival.
• 7-23, 6:00-9:00p. Heavy pedestrian and traffic on Harbor Drive near the Convention Center for Comic-Con Preview Night.
• 7-24 thru 7-27, all day and most of the night. Heavy pedestrian and traffic due to Comic-Con Convention. Watch to unusually dressed attendees!
• 7-27, noon-4:00p. Kettner between Date and Cedar AND Kettner between Beech & Cedar for Little Italy Stickball Summer League Competition.
Ballpark Neighborhood Congestion and Closures
An event will occur on the following dates and times in June. Note weekday event: Thursday, June 26.
